Our approach
The portfolio includes carbon credits highly rated by Calyx Global (a leading carbon credit rater recommended by Harvard’s Office for Sustainability). It is designed to deliver climate impact along with health and wellbeing benefits (all priorities in Harvard’s Sustainability Action Plan); and a small investment in promising but unrated, higher-risk long-term removal projects to catalyze the market. This project collects landfill gas at a municipal landfill near the city of Fortaleza in Brazil. It avoids the emission of methane (a potent greenhouse gas) into the atmosphere and displaces natural gas in the distribution grid.
